Reindeer Moon

Elizabeth Marshall Thomas, an anthropologist and fiction writer, describes Palwolithic men’s life as not being exaggerated but plain in the fiction of “Reindeer Moon”. Relying on her archeological knowledge and vigorour imagination, we create artistic form and space scenario that reflect the daily life and death, and joy and anger of paleolithic men. October is the highest reach of pleasure at the same time as the dawning of anguish. We expect Jeongok Prehistory Museum provides a meaningful exhibition space for excavated artifacts of Jeongokri, and expresses gooey October’s pleasure and pain of paleolithic men as well. Visitors are coerced to continously move on the exhibition areas, unabling to stay at a specific point like paleolithic men who were wandering around for hunting animals and collecting plants. Natural environment and outside exhibitions as a means of living museum are dramatically conceptualized as spring, summer, autumn, and winter season through the incessant changes. Visitors touch a long and painful winter through quite a long basalt precipice on the way of rich, warm, and comfortable journey to the space inside to outside. However, at the end of a long, dark basalt rock tunnel, wilde praire is speading. And the journey begins again.
